According to the organization, over the last few weeks work has been carried out on the necessary health protocols for a sporting event of these characteristics and always in accordance with the measures established by the Spanish Triathlon Federation. Solutions have been developed to ensure that the event goes ahead and that the true celebration of triathlon can be experienced again.
Finally, the organizers of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon and the authorities that are participating in the development of the event, have determined the suspension of the eleventh edition as the ideal circumstances for its celebration did not exist and it is more important now to continue taking measures to fight against a pandemic that has disrupted plans worldwide.
It has not been an easy decision for the organizers of an event that has been consolidated in the sports calendar of the island of Lanzarote, but at this time the safety and health of all is primordial.
The Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon was going to have its three usual modalities and that has turned it into a race for all levels. Super Sprint, Olympic and Medium Distance were the three modalities to be disputed with different distances for the segments swimming, cycling and running.
