Bike Fitting Variables

A cyclist has three points of support when getting on a bike: the seat, the handlebars and the pedals.

Thus, the variables would be the height of the saddle, the possibility of moving it forward or backward, the difference in height and distance of the handlebars in relation to the seat and the placement of the cleats in the shoes.

Height of the seat
This distance is taken from the centre of the bottom bracket housing to the top horizontal part of the saddle. The right distance will give the optimal angle of the knee and the extended leg to avoid knee pain.

Moving the seat
This allows the weight of the cyclist to be distributed equally in front of or behind the bottom bracket shell.

Height difference between saddle and handlebar
This variable makes it possible to obtain a more upright or more inclined position, to favor aerodynamics depending on how we are going to use the bike.

Difference in length between saddle and handlebar
This is the length of the stem. It is taken from the tip of the seat to the centre of the handlebar. By changing this stem, you can shorten or lengthen the bike to achieve a more comfortable position.

Adjusting the cleats
There are three main settings to consider: the front rear adjustment, the lateral adjustment and the rotation. In this way, the foot will be in a natural position.
